Military Light, Train of Thought crash Reggae 6

UNITED STATES-bred TRAIN OF THOUGHT yesterday reversed her form, an out-of-class five-length win in the fifth event at seven and a half furlongs, turning tables on UNRULY DON, CROWN CHASER and WICKED CASSIE, horses behind whom she had finished in her last two races.

It wasn't only TRAIN OF THOUGHT's 12-1 win for trainer Steven Todd with Dane Dawkins aboard that turned the Reggae 6 on its head. MILITARY LIGHT storming against the rail at odds of 17-1 with claiming rider Tyrese Anderson upended bettors in the second event, later resulting in a payout of $195,455.

Whereas MILITARY LIGHT's come-from-behind upset was a case of favourite BOLD MOVE failing to recover from a poor start and speedy SUGAR DADDY running out of steam, explaining the moderate 1:09.0 for five and a half furlongs, TRAIN OF THOUGHT winning in 1:33.3 was certainly a head-turner, suggesting the four-year-old American filly, a non-winner of two races, was unbeatable among native non-winners of three races.

The Reggae 6 opened precariously with NEWLAND LINKS giving trainer Barrington Bernard a second winner in two days after DON KWESI's victory on Saturday. NEWLAND LINKS won at 3-1, reporting off a two-year break with claiming rider Gavin Harris.

Despite three winning favourites, ADIRA and STORM at 1-2 in the second and fourth races, respectively, closing with ALTHIA in the sixth, putting together a winning combination was a tough ask for form players.

September's month of racing continues with another Saturday-Sunday dual meet at the weekend. Saturday's Reggae 6 will open at $3.9 million as a single-winner bonus.
